Iowa State Football: 3 takeaways from another impressive Cyclones win
Matt Campbell is pressing all the right buttons
If there is a team that’s better coached than Iowa State football right now, it would be hard to find one. Head coach Matt Campbell is getting everything out of his roster and it has a team few expected playing for a conference title.
This isn’t just a lucky season or a fluke, the Cyclones have been building something special over the past few years and a conference title coming back to Ames would be simply unthinkable.
Yet, this team clearly has a confidence and a swagger about it. Purdy is playing with a ton of confidence, the defense is on a roll and the running game is like a freight train.
When you have that kind of identity and all the pieces to the puzzle fit well together on a weekly basis, it makes it much easier to win games. Breece Hall had to work for every yard he got and was held under 100 yards rushing, but he still got 27 attempts and it paid off.
And even if the Cyclones don’t get anywhere near the playoff, watching them chase a conference championship has been one of the best stories in the 2020 college football season.
