Nebraska football hasn’t played well on the road under head coach Scott Frost but that wasn’t the case Saturday for the Huskers.

If Nebraska football fans wanted more evidence that Scott Frost is the right man for the job, they got it Saturday as the Huskers notched an impressive win on the road at Purdue.

Thanks to an early blocked punt and another strong performance from quarterback Adrian Martinez, the Huskers won their second game of the season and kept their faint bowl hopes alive. A big game awaits on that front next week against Minnesota.

But first, let’s look back at a significant 37-27 win for Nebraska football over Purdue:

Huskers have found their quarterback

Luke McCaffrey can still have a role on this team and this offense with his athletic ability, but for the rest of this season at least, Adrian Martinez should be the quarterback.

After nearly leading the Huskers to a win over Iowa last week, Martinez completed 23-of-30 passes for 242 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for 45 yards and scored twice but most importantly, he didn’t turn the ball over and that was the key.

Of course, the Huskers didn’t make it easy. Nebraska blocked a punt and grabbed an early lead but had a special teams turnover of its own and let Purdue get back within seven in the fourth quarter. Lots of Nebraska fans had to be thinking, here we go again?

But instead of allowing another team to come back and beat them, Martinez got the Huskers three points and put together another solid drive that killed some clock. After that, the defense did the job and closed out an important program win.
