Ohio State continued their push to the playoff with a dominant 52-12 victory over Michigan State.

The first Saturday in December brought back the Ohio State Buckeyes, who have played just two games in the past four weeks. Cancellations against Maryland and Illinois have put the Buckeyes in a situation in which they need to play their final two games if they want a crack at the Big Ten Championship.

Fortunately for Ohio State, this game went on as planned and unfortunately for Michigan State, this game went on as planned.

This game fielded a dominant effort by the Buckeyes both offensively and defensively. Ohio State football had 521 total yards of total offense and held the Spartans to just 261 yards.

Justin Fields added some more plays for his highlight reel, as he continues to be considered for this year’s Heisman trophy.

He kicked off the scoring with a 2-yard TD run in the first quarter. Then there was this incredible run, where he showed the Spartans and the world that nobody on this field was ready to keep up.

Fields even made an impact as a blocker, helping Trey Sermon cap off his 64-yard rushing touchdown.

On the Michigan State side, this was another rough outing for Mel Tucker and his guys. They have been able to play through rough QB play by Rocky Lombardi and pull off a few upsets. But, today against the Buckeyes was just a different level of competition.

The Spartans struggled heavily on 3rd down, only converting 3 of 17 attempts. This led to quick drives and no real chance to build up momentum.

When you look at the games Michigan State has won this year, they won those games large in part due to bad QB play on the opposite side. Justin Fields was simply not going to lay an egg in the same manor that Joe Milton or Peyton Ramsey has.

Ohio State remained undefeated in the end with a 52-12 road victory over the Spartans. What did we learn?
