Projected 2020 College Football Playoff Top 25 rankings for Week 15
By Zach Bigalke
Coastal Carolina made a serious case that they are the top Group of Five team this season with a 22-17 victory over No. 13 BYU at home on Saturday. The Chanticleers stopped Dax Milne short of the goal line on the final play of the game to secure the win. Still undefeated at 10-0, Coastal Carolina is going to jump around five spots in the College Football Playoff selection committee’s rankings when they release the next Top 25 on Tuesday evening.
CJ Marable had a huge game on the ground against BYU, running for 132 yards and two touchdowns. Grayson McCall threw for only 85 yards on 10-of-15 passing, but he added 68 rushing yards on a dozen carries to help pace the Chanticleers to victory. Coastal Carolina’s defense stymied Zach Wilson, holding the BYU quarterback 62 yards below his season average and giving up just one touchdown through the air.
Coastal Carolina still has one more game to play before the Sun Belt championship game, a road trip to Troy in Week 15. Then they face off in a rematch against Louisiana for the conference title. If the Chanticleers come out the other side with a 12-0 record, they will be ready to swoop in and take the automatic New Year’s Six bid for the Group of Five if Cincinnati falters.
