Projected 2020 College Football Playoff Top 25 rankings for Week 15
By Zach Bigalke
Texas played its way back into the College Football Playoff selection committee’s Top 25 after a week out of the rankings. The Longhorns romped Kansas State 69-31 in Manhattan to improve to 6-3. Coupled with Oklahoma State’s loss, Texas is now in third place behind Iowa State and Oklahoma in the Big 12 standings. That will put them just ahead of the Cowboys when the committee releases their next set of rankings on Tuesday.
Sam Ehlinger threw for 274 yards and a pair of touchdowns as he completed 20 of his 27 passes. Even more impressive was the Texas backfield. Bijan Robinson ran for 174 yards and three touchdowns on just nine carries. Roschon Johnson added 139 yards and three scores of his own on 14 carries. The Longhorns defense gave up 458 yards to the Wildcats, but also forced three Kansas State turnovers to run away with the win on the road.
Texas closes out the regular season in Week 15 with another trip north to the Sunflower State to face off against Kansas in Lawrence. While fans were hoping to contend for a Big 12 title this season, a three-loss Longhorns team is going to be an attractive get for whichever bowl game manages to land Tom Herman’s team this season.
