2. Sun Belt teams – Coastal Carolina and Louisiana rise up significantly

This 2020 College Football season has given multiple teams and multiple conferences the spotlight to show their significance as a contending team for the Playoff or the New Year’s Six bowl games.

The Sun Belt Conference started the season strong with some significant non-conference wins and continue to showcase progress with the most recent College Football Playoff rankings.

The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers stepped in a big way in front of the nation as they had a College Gameday setting.

Their game against the Liberty Flame was canceled so they replaced them with the No. 13 BYU Cougars. Many believed the Cougars had to boost their resume for a final playoff push with a win over the 18th-ranked Chanticleers.

Instead, the Chanticleers showed their potential with a 22-17 win over BYU. The Chanticleers rose up five spots to the 13th ranked spot and are now in contention for a New Year’s Six bowl game.

The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns have had a wild and impressive 2020 College Football season. They start off the season with an impressive 31-14 win over Iowa State. Their lone loss of the season was to Coastal Carolina with a 30-27 score.

They have been in the top 25 for six weeks now. Last Saturday, the #25 Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns defeated the Appalachian State Mountaineers with a 24-21 score. This gave the Mountaineers their third loss of the season. The Ragin’ Cajuns rose up six spots in the College Football Playoff rankings to the 19th spot.
