Neither fans nor Vegas are giving Arkansas football much of a shot on Saturday but the Razorbacks can shock the nation in Fayetteville.

If you’re a fan of college football, you would probably assume that Alabama would sleepwalk to a victory over Arkansas this weekend. However, the Razorbacks are better than what people give them credit for.

Arkansas is just 3-6 on the season but the Razorbacks are a few plays away from a 6-3 record. They almost beat LSU, Missouri and Auburn and if a few plays went their way in those three games which were decided by a total of seven points, we might be talking about the Razorbacks as the most surprising team in college football.

Here’s why they could upset Alabama on Saturday (yes, I said could not will).

3. Alabama’s defense has been shaky, at times

If you look at how the season started for Alabama, it wasn’t pretty on the defensive side of the ball. It seemed like Pete Golding was in over his head and he kept getting on Nick Saban’s bad side.

However, the second-year coach has turned it around. After giving up at least 24 points in three of the first four games of the season, the Tide haven’t allowed 20 points since. But you also have to look at the quality of opponents in those stretches. Alabama allowed at least 24 to Texas A&M, Ole Miss and Georgia, but have faced Tennessee, Mississippi State, Kentucky, Auburn and LSU since. The quality of opposing offenses has decreased over the course of the season.

Is Alabama’s defense getting better? It’s hard to tell, but it has shown that it can get gashed with the right attack. Arkansas doesn’t have a potent offense, but it does have a pulse.

Alabama could struggle with Arkansas’ offense a bit.
