Florida State football rebounded at home with a refreshing victory against Duke. What did we learn from the Seminoles’ three-touchdown win?

The Seminoles entered Saturday looking for positive signs to build upon in the future. They may have found those signs tonight against a deflated Blue Devils team. FSU started the game on a roll scoring four touchdowns to give themselves a comfortable 28-0 lead late in the first quarter.

Duke followed that up by scoring three straight touchdowns to cut into that lead going into halftime. After the break, FSU promptly scored 21 straight points to put the game out of reach.

FSU quarterback Jordan Travis passed for 192 yards and tossed two touchdowns on the night. It was the running game however that sparked the offense.

Freshman running back Lawerence Toafili ran for 117 yards on seven carries and one touchdown, including a 72-yard scamper. Former Texas A&M transfer running back Jashaun Corbin rumbled for 72 yards on 17 carries and three touchdowns. Travis also chipped in 90 yards on 12 carries and another touchdowns. Freshman wide receiver/running back Jahki Douglas led the team in receiving with 77 yards on two catches and two touchdowns.

Duke leads the NCAA in turnovers committed on the season, and they added four more to that category on Saturday. The lone bright spot for the Blue Devils on offense was perhaps the performance by running back Mataeo Durant. The junior tailback rushed for 127 yards on 13 carries and one touchdown.

Here are my biggest takeaways from Saturday’s game.
