After a wild Week 15, the Week 16 AP Top 25 ahead of championship week saw some college football contenders falling after big upsets.

Week 15 was an afterthought in some college football fans minds, but it produced some of the craziest results of the season and gave way for an interesting Week 16 AP Top 25.

Florida lost one of the more mind blowing games of the season to an LSU team that has been depleted due to opt outs and injuries and was coming off of a 55-17 beatdown at the hands of Alabama. Florida’s playoff hopes are now gone due to the loss to LSU and the SEC championship on Saturday now seems rather meaningless, since Alabama should get in, win or lose.

In what was supposed to be one of the more entertaining games of the day, North Carolina made a big statement by blowing the doors off of Miami and tallying over 500 yards rushing in the process. This was a major step back for a Miami program that is looking to get back to being among the nation’s elite and a big step forward for North Carolina, that is trying to make a New Year’s Six game just two years removed from a three-win season.

Coastal Carolina and USC kept their perfect seasons alive by staging late game comebacks in two of the most entertaining games of the day. Coastal appeared to be doomed against Troy, but quarterback Grayson McCall guided the Chanticleers to victory.

Similarly, USC quarterback Kedon Slovis drove USC to victory against UCLA and the Trojans will have an opportunity to be an undefeated Pac-12 champion with a victory against Washington on Saturday.

The season is entering its final week before bowl season and the playoff and there are still questions that need to be answered.

Here are the winners and losers from the Week 16 AP Poll.
