This was a tough one for me because I think that Notre Dame is going to have a couple of linemen who will push for early playing time, but the guard position may be more lacking than tackle next season and that’s why Rocco Spindler is the pick here.

Don’t get me wrong, Blake Fisher, Caleb Johnson and Joe Alt could all see the field early on for the Irish with Liam Eichenberg and Robert Hainsey likely gone but the two-deep at both guard spots will also be leaving. Four guys in the top spots on the depth chart at guard will all likely be gone which means that Spindler would be a prime candidate to replace them, especially as an early enrollee.

Spindler was a huge recruiting victory for the Irish when he picked Notre Dame over the home-state Michigan Wolverines and it shows just how far Brian Kelly has come as a recruiter.

The four-star offensive guard is ranked the No. 60 prospect in the class and he’s the third-best at the position, according to 247Sports. He has the size, he played tackle in high school so he has the ability to play multiple positions, if need be, and he’s scary-good.

Notre Dame just landed another NFL talent on the offensive line (two including Fisher).
