AAC: Cincinnati (-14.5) vs. Tulsa

Cincinnati has been the team in the Group of Five this season. At 8-0, Cincinnati is still in the Playoff conversation, although the chances of the Bearcats making it to the dance seem to be extremely slim.

Tulsa’s had a great season as well. Their only loss was at Oklahoma State, a 16-7 defensive slugfest that set the tone for the season. Tulsa has great wins over UCF and SMU. They’ve come from out of nowhere to overtake the likes of Memphis, UCF and SMU as the second best team in the conference.

The first meeting between these two was cancelled. That just amplifies the importance of this showdown.

Tulsa will have to rely on defense to win this game. The Golden Hurricane offense isn’t anywhere near as explosive as Cincinnati, so it’s highly unlikely they can survive a shootout.

Tulsa is holding teams to 20 points per game, and it’s a must that they keep the Bearcats within that range. If Cincinnati scores in the 30s, Tulsa doesn’t have a great chance. But if the Bearcats can be held to 24 or less, that’s more of a pace that the Tulsa offense can operate successfully at.

Would this be an upset? Yes. This game is likely the second biggest lock of the week behind Ohio State. Cincinnati needs to impress the committee. If they start scoring, don’t expect them to stop.
