Notre Dame football faces a big-time rematch with Clemson for a shot at the playoff. Here’s why the Irish will take care of the Tigers again.

Imagine a year ago somebody told you that Notre Dame would be playing for a conference championship in 2020 for football. How long after would you have started to laugh? Probably, not too long after. But that is exactly what will be happening for the Notre Dame football program this upcoming Saturday in Charlotte.

The undefeated Notre Dame Fighting Irish will be facing off against the 9-1 Clemson Tigers on December 19th. This will be the second matchup of the year featuring the two teams.

All year long a lot of the football world had the first meeting circled on their calendar between Clemson and Notre Dame. The game on Nov. 7 definitely lived up to the hype as Notre Dame came out on top in a great game 47-40 in double overtime.

Since that matchup, many people around the country wished we would get to see a rematch in Charlotte for the ACC title on the line. Well, we are all getting that wish come true.

This matchup will look a little different for the Clemson Tigers. Star quarterback Trevor Lawrence was not unfortunately able to play in the first matchup as he had COVID-19 and was not cleared to play at the time of the game.

The Fighting Irish know it will not be easy this time around with star quarterback Trevor Lawrence playing in this matchup. But Notre Dame does have what it takes to take down Clemson with him on the field.

Two years ago, Notre Dame showed at the end of the playoff game against Clemson that there was still a huge gap between the two programs. That gap has closed as the Irish know they can play with Clemson on the gridiron.

Here are the reasons Notre Dame will beat Clemson in a rematch for the ACC title.
