Texas A&M football is gearing up to face Tennessee in the final week of the regular season. Will the Aggies take care of business?

Jimbo Fisher was sitting on a warm seat earlier this season after getting smacked around by Alabama in the second game of the year and a shaky win over Vanderbilt in the opener. But fast forward to December and the Aggies are on fire, sitting at No. 5 in the rankings with a real shot at a playoff berth.

Oh, and Fisher’s seat has cooled off considerably.

Texas A&M is 7-1 and firing on all cylinders during this six-game winning streak which included an upset win over Florida. Now the Aggies have one regular season game left to impress the playoff committee in Knoxville on Saturday.

What could take place in Knoxville on Saturday afternoon?

3. Isaiah Spiller reaches 1,000 yards

OK, so this may not be all that bold seeing as Isaiah Spiller is already just 103 yards away from the 1,000-yard mark, but this is a big deal for the Aggies. Jimbo Fisher coached a 1,000-yard rusher in Trayveon Williams a couple of years ago and he’s been looking for the next guy ever since. Seeing Spiller reach that plateau in a shortened season is huge.

Not only will Spiller break 1,000 yards on the season in this game, he’s going to top 1,050 and put up over 150 rushing yards against the Volunteers.

Spiller has been on fire this season and I’ll be the first to admit that I believed the run game was going to struggle with the departure of Jashaun Corbin. However, Spiller has picked up the slack and looks like one of the best running backs in the SEC.

The sophomore sensation with rush for over 150 yards and he’ll need just 20 carries to do so.
