1. Lane Kiffin has done a great job in year one

Do we call this year one for new coaches or year zero given the fact that they haven’t had a spring, haven’t been able to do any face-to-face recruiting and were relatively unfamiliar with their new teams heading into the fall? I think it’s fair to say that.

Whatever you want to call the 2020 season, Lane Kiffin has done a great job with his new team.

The former FAU, USC and Tennessee head coach has had quite the road back to a head coaching position in the Power Five. He was an assistant at Alabama under Nick Saban before taking the FAU job and it didn’t take long for him to earn Power Five interest. He probably could have accepted a job after his first season at FAU but he waited and Ole Miss came calling.

It turns out the fit has been pretty good so far.

Ole Miss has been heavily offense-focused for years and that hasn’t changed under Kiffin but he has done more with this roster than Matt Luke did in a few years and no one expected anything from the Rebels in 2020. A 4-5 finish and potential bowl bid is impressive for a program that seemed dead in the water.

Kiffin has a good thing budding in Oxford, especially with Matt Corral back next year.
