Scouting Report. 6-0. won 22-10 vs. No. 14 Northwestern (Big Ten championship in Indianapolis). Ohio State Buckeyes. 4. player. Pick Analysis. 812

Ohio State played their way into the College Football Playoff with a 22-10 victory over No. 14 Northwestern in the Big Ten championship game on Saturday afternoon. The Buckeyes found themselves behind 10-6 at halftime, but turned on the pressure in the second half to run away with the victory. The win will push Ryan Day’s team to the No. 3 spot in the final Top 25 from the selection committee and put them on a collision course to play Clemson once again in the semifinals.

Justin Fields threw away any chance at playing his way back into the Heisman discussion. The quarterback threw for only 114 yards and a pair of interceptions on 12-of-27 passing. Fields added 35 rushing yards, but the big story on the ground was another transfer. Former Oklahoma running back Trey Sermon broke the Ohio State single-game rushing record set by Eddie George in 1995. Sermon finished with 331 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 29 carries to fuel the win.

Though some have raised concerns about the fact Ohio State played just six games to win the Big Ten, the selection committee has shown little concern about the lack of data points when it comes to the Buckeyes. Eyeballs are all that really matter when the committee sits down to consider Ohio State, and their position is locked in at this point.
