He knows how to develop

Recruiting is obviously huge at any SEC program, especially one that wants to be competing for conference championships and while Harsin may not have a ton of highly-ranked classes at Boise State, the way he was able to get kids from Texas, California, and even places like Florida and Georiga should help him moving forward.

He’s used to having really good offenses, but he’s not a gimmick coach and his style of play will fit in well with the SEC. Beyond that though, he’s proven that he knows how to develop players, especially at the quarterback position.

And yes, the Broncos are from the Mountain West Conference, but Harsin has beaten plenty of power-5 programs over the years with basically every win coming away from home, including a Fiest Bowl win.

Auburn football is a really good recruiting program and he’s going to get better players simply by coaching the Tigers. Putting the right staff in place is key but if he can get the most out of his talent at Auburn as he did at Boise State, the Tigers should be a contender.

And that’s why even though he might not be the big name, Harsin will succeed as Auburn’s head coach, although it remains to be seen what success means when Saban is your primary rival.
