BYU football may not have earned a New Year’s Six bowl like it would have hoped, but a matchup with Group of Five power UCF is intriguing.

The first bowl game of the season wasn’t exactly a tight battle as App State had its way with North Texas in the Myrtle Beach Bowl and the second isn’t the most intriguing matchup between Tulane and Nevada, but the third is must-see TV.

If you like offense and like elite quarterback play between two guys who will likely be in the NFL soon enough, the 2020 Boca Raton Bowl on Tuesday night needs to be on your radar.

Zach Wilson of BYU is one of the Heisman contenders this season after leading the Cougars to a 10-1 record and passing for over 3,000 yards and 30 touchdowns. Dillon Gabriel also had over 3,000 yards this season with 30 touchdowns but his Knights were just 6-3.

What could take place between these two offensive powerhouses on Tuesday night?

3. BYU holds UCF under 100 rushing yards

UCF has one of the best rushing attacks in the nation, averaging over 210 yards per game on the ground, led by the duo of Greg McCrae and Otis Anderson who each have over 600 yards this year. Oh, and don’t forget the third back in Bentavious Thompson who’s second on the team in rushing touchdowns with five.

That run game complements one of the nation’s elite passing attacks as well and Dillon Gabriel hasn’t needed to do everything on his own.

In Tuesday’s Boca Raton Bowl, however, Gabriel will need to do everything on his own as the run game will be held in check with the dynamic backfield duo being held to under 100 yards. That’s going to force Gabriel into a lot of long passing downs on second and third down which could put the Knights behind schedule.
