BYU Football: 3 takeaways from blowout win over UCF in Boca Raton Bowl
1. Zach Wilson was a treat for college football fans all year
Zach Wilson was a breath of fresh air in a season that was dominated by bad news.
No one expected the type of season Wilson had, including BYU fans, but he was a breakout sensation and was fun to watch every single week.
At the start of bowl season, this was a treat for college football fans, seeing him play one of his best career games against a perennial Group of Five powerhouse in UCF. This was a pretty win for the Cougars and it likely caps off the career of Wilson who got better each season. He finishes his junior season with over 3,600 passing yards and 33 touchdowns with just three interceptions.
Wilson was one of the smartest, and most accurate, quarterbacks in the country this season as he made very few mistakes and finished with almost 4,000 total yards and over 40 total touchdowns.
The pro career of Wilson may be the next step after this season and if that’s the case, he gave BYU and college football fans quite the show in 2020.
It’s too bad he wasn’t given a shot in the New Year’s Six.
