Savion Byrd (O-line)

With a roster as deep and talented as Oklahoma’s it’s not always easy for recruits to come in and play right away. Defensive end Clayton Smith, a four-star recruit who is also a top-100 player was considered here but with a number of pass rushers returning, his path to the field could be tough.

On the offensive line, the Sooners have always been solid and the next good one should be four-star recruit Savion Byrd who signed out of Duncanville, Texas.

The reason I think Byrd has a chance to contribute right away is that depth is always needed on the offensive line and he’s someone who could push to play at either guard or tackle.

He’s 6-foot-5, 295 pounds according to 247 sports and he’s ranked as the No. 9 offensive tackle in the 2021 class, as well as the 62nd-ranked player overall.

That versatility will be key and with just one selection up front on the First-Team All-Big 12 offense, it’s not like there won’t be opportunities to compete. Bryd has the look of a future NFL offensive lineman and with Oklahoma football, he will be on the field sooner rather than later.
