Tom Herman is out as head coach at Texas. Reports have Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian as the next head coach.

Per a report from multiple sources, Texas football has fired head coach Tom Herman. The University has put an official statement confirming Texas has moved on from Herman.

In four years in Austin, Herman won 32 games and was undefeated in the postseason. Herman improved at Texas with the 2018 and 2019 classes ranked in the top five (No. 3 class each year), and the 2020 class ranked 8th.

Despite raising the Longhorns’ floor, several factors led to Herman’s demise in Austin. First, Herman was 1-4 against rival Oklahoma.

The Longhorns did not win a conference title or make the National Semifinal during Herman’s tenure. Of all the factors that led to Herman’s demise, Texas had questionable losses during Herman’s time. This season the Longhorns lost to unranked TCU. Herman lost six games against unranked teams while ranked during his time.

Reports have Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian will become the next head coach of the Longhorns. Sarkisian coached Washington and USC from 2009-2015. Sark was summarily terminated from USC under a cloud of controversy.

Here are three reasons “Sark” is a good choice for Texas.
