OK, so you know how I said that the receiving corps and defensive line have bright futures? Well, it turns out this entire program is trending in the right direction, and that includes the running backs which are led by Isaiah Spiller and Ainias Smith. We saw Devon Achane break out in the Orange Bowl and put himself on the map and Darvon Hubbard should also get some touches next year.

Where does that leave a top target like LJ Johnson? Well, if all goes as planned, Spiller will be in the NFL soon enough and Smith will be getting the starting carries with Achane.

If that’s the case, Johnson could push for some carries as well and be the next Texas A&M running back to become a pro prospect. He already looks like an elite runner and he’s just graduating high school. He stands 5-foot-10, 204 pounds and Gabe Brooks of 247Sports compares him to Jonathan Stewart.

Texas A&M would flourish with this kid in the backfield and he’d be too good to not play immediately even with a crowded running back room. Expect someone to transfer if he signs.

Johnson has to be the top remaining target and he’s ranked the No. 40 prospect and third-best running back in the class. Texas is currently Texas A&M’s biggest competition for him.
