Texas football is undergoing a lot of changes with new head coach Steve Sarkisian but here are three early 2021 signees who’ll have instant impacts.

Now that Steve Sarkisian is done helping Alabama win yet another national championship, he can focus on trying to do the same with Texas football and that appears to be the goal after his introductory press conference.

Sarkisian told the media that he wants Texas football to win championships and if the Longhorns end up hitting on their new head coach, then they will certainly have a good chance.

Texas is always one of the best recruiting programs in the country and even with all the upheaval surrounding Tom Herman, the Horns still had the No. 17 rated class according to 247 sports after the early signing period. It’s ranked second in the Big 12.

Certainly, Sarkisian will attempt to add to that class and there are some prominent targets such as four-star running back LJ Johnson, who is 24th overall in 2021 and has 52 percent of his crystal ball projections going to Texas.

The addition of Johnson could change who makes an early impact but for now, here are three recruits from 2021 who’ll have instant impacts for the Longhorns.

3-star running back Jonathon Brooks

Texas may not have a huge need at running back with Bijan Robinson coming back, as well as Roschon Johnson as both backs carried the ball 80 times last season.

But Jonathon Brooks is a really underrated prospect, even as a three-star recruit and last season he rushed for 3,530 yards and had more than 3,800 yards from scrimmage, as well as 70 touchdowns in 16 high school games.

He’s ranked 23rd among running backs in the 2021 class and ranked 419th overall, but he’s highly productive and even though he doesn’t have breakaway speed, he can be a good player.

Brooks caught 30 passes for 552 yards the last two seasons and that could help him get some playing time early too.

It’s also a position that lends itself to early playing time and even if Johnson signs in the late period, don’t count out Brooks next season.

Here are two other early-period signees who can make an immediate impact.
