Syracuse football had its worst season in 15 years, winning just one game. This is ‘Cuse’s report card for 2020.

The Syracuse football team had its fair — or unfair — share of adversity this season. The Orange dealt with injuries, opt-outs and COVID-19 all season.

Syracuse had just three practices before the campus shut down because of COVID with two new coordinators. Combine those factors, and it was no wonder the Orange struggled on both sides of the ball.

According to Syracuse AD John Wildhack, Dino Babers goes into next season just fine. Wildhack said: “First of all, the proverbial hot seat, take that and just delete it,” Wildhack said. “Dino’s going to be our coach in 2021. I hope he’s our coach for a long time. He knows that. I want him to be, the university does. So he doesn’t enter 2021 on any hot seat or anything like that. It’s all about what we can do to get better in 2021.”

The Orange played three quarterbacks this season, all of whom struggled behind an offensive line ravaged by injury and inconsistent play. The defense struggled to get pressure on the quarterback and the back end, even with Andre Cisco on the back end. With a reset and a full spring and summer practice, maybe the Orange can improve on their abysmal 2020.
