2021 NFL Mock Draft: First-round projections after national championship
Before the 2020 season, Gregory Rousseau was one of the biggest names to announce he’d be opting out. He was fresh off a breakout redshirt freshman season with the Hurricanes in 2019 and he was on the short list of candidates to win just about every defensive award in 2020.
The former highly-touted recruit had just one game played in 2018 but made a splash with five tackles. He was a major breakout candidate for 2019 and he did just that, putting up video game-like numbers with 54 total tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss, 15.5 sacks and two forced fumbles. He was nearly un-blockable by opposing offensive linemen.
What makes him even more intriguing as a prospect is the fact that his game is still relatively raw and he hasn’t even reached his potential yet. The Cowboys will pick him here based on that potential and the fact that the last time he was on the field, he was a nightmare for opposing offenses.
The Cowboys need an edge rusher and Rousseau is the best one available.
