2021 NFL Mock Draft: First-round projections after national championship
If there’s one thing Michigan has been known for over the years, it’s defense. Don Brown, although he was recently fired by Jim Harbaugh, coached plenty of elite defenders and let them be their best and most dominant selves. Kwity Paye is just the latest and even though we didn’t hear much about him in 2020, his potential is elite.
The Giants need a lot of help. I mean, this team has needs just about everywhere on the roster, but arguably the biggest need is edge rusher.
With Gregory Rousseau going one pick before to the rival Cowboys, the Giants will be forced to go with the next best option in Paye.
The raw edge rusher broke out as a junior for 50 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks in 12 games. That was 2019. In 2020, he played in just four games, recording 16 tackles, four tackles for loss and two sacks. The potential was clearly there.
Paye is an athlete on the edge and he’s going to create havoc in opposing backfields for years to come. This is a nice start for a rebuilding defense.
