player. 42. CB. Virginia Tech. Caleb Farley. 12. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

Caleb Farley is one of the most interesting prospects in the 2021 NFL Draft class. Not only is he one of the top cornerbacks in the class, but he’s also new to the position and still learning the ropes. That will require a team with plenty of time and patience to draft him because there’s a good chance he’ll need time.

Ideally, Robert Saleh would be in town to help mold Farley into a lockdown cornerback, but he has just taken the head coaching job with thee Jets.

Still, San Francisco needs defensive back help and with Farley still on the board at No. 12 overall, I could see the 49ers taking a chance here.

Farley began his career as a receiver (following a high school career which saw him play quarterback) and he shifted over to the defensive side of the ball. His knowledge at receiver has helped him, but so has his length and athleticism. He has solid size at 6-2 and 197 pounds which will help him at the position against bigger receivers.

Expect him to come off the board early on and the 49ers would be a good fit.
