2021 NFL Mock Draft: First-round projections after national championship
The Cardinals could go with a kid with NFL bloodlines here in the middle of the first round while also addressing a need at cornerback. Jaycee Horn, the son of former NFL wide out Joe Horn, spent his last three years in Columbia with the Gamecocks and became a star on that defense.
Although South Carolina was underwhelming in the latter part of the Will Muschamp era, Horn was one of the bigger standouts on the roster.
As a freshman, Horn had 45 tackles, four tackles for loss, two sacks and eight pass deflections. He had nine pass deflections with 40 tackles and a sack as a sophomore and then in a COVID-19 shortened season, he recorded his first two career interceptions along with six passes defended in seven games.
Horn is a strong cornerback with decent size at 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds but he needs to work on his tackling consistency. He will be fine in coverage as more of a physical corner in the NFL, but needs to work on making the tackle instead of aiming for a big hit.
