Christian Barmore. Alabama. 24. player. 55. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. DT

It seems like Alabama spits out elite defensive linemen every year and while there was no clear superstar up front for the Tide this year, Christian Barmore was the next best thing.

The redshirt sophomore showed flashes as a freshman in 2019 as a backup, recording 26 tackles, six tackles for loss and two sacks. He also showed how active he was on the line against the pass with two deflections at the line of scrimmage and his awareness was impressive.

Barmore got more playing time in 2020 and really showed that he could be that star defensive lineman for the Tide. He was dominant with 37 total tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss and eight sacks with three pass deflections and three forced fumbles.

With the frame that Barmore possesses (6-foot-5, 310 pounds), he’s tough for interior offensive linemen to handle and his raw power is impressive. He can bull-rush through opponents and often requires double-teams to slow him down.

The Steelers might be looking at a cornerback, offensive tackle or even eventual replacement for Ben Roethlisberger here, but Barmore is far from a reach at No. 24 overall.
