Pick Analysis. LB. Joseph Ossai. 15. Scouting Report. Texas. 29. player

Offense hasn’t been an issue in New Orleans for years so I fully expect the Saints to address the defense, but Drew Brees’ career is winding down quickly.

Could the Saints be targeting the quarterback of the future? Taysom Hill may be a fan favorite, but he hasn’t proven he can be the full-time quarterback. And Jameis Winston comes with plenty of doubters. However, this late in the draft, there’s a good chance the Saints won’t be able to select the quarterback they want. They could look at Mac Jones or even Kyle Trask, but this may be too early still.

Defense is the way to go here and Joseph Ossai is the top defender left on the board, in my opinion, at this point.

The former top-200 recruit had an immediate impact at Texas, playing in seven games as a freshman before adjusting to a starting role as a sophomore. He broke out for 90 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, five sacks and two picks. He followed that up with 55 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks in a shortened junior year.

Ossai has a bright NFL future ahead of him and I could see him star for the Saints.
