2021 NFL Mock Draft: First-round projections after national championship
The draft stock of DeVonta Smith is at an all-time high after winning the Heisman Trophy in 2020 and posting video game-like numbers during the Crimson Tide’s national title run. Heck, he even had over 200 receiving yards and three touchdowns in the championship victory over Ohio State.
Smith added to his impressive receiving yardage total, putting him over 1,850 yards and 23 touchdowns with nearly 120 receptions. Yes, that’s a one-year stat line.
The senior receiver broke out in 2019, but one-upped his incredible showing with a Heisman campaign that no one could have seen coming. He was the most explosive receiver in the country and reuniting with Tua Tagovailoa would be electric for the Dolphins’ offense.
Miami has a lot of needs, but receiver is one of the biggest and if the Dolphins have a chance to get the next biggest star at the position to rejoin his former teammate and make the offense special, they have to do it.
