2021 NFL Mock Draft: First-round projections after national championship
Some experts have Zach Wilson going as high as No. 2 overall to the Jets, but like I said earlier, I see New York giving Sam Darnold another shot this season.
That will cause Wilson to fall to Atlanta at No. 4 overall and this pick just makes sense because Matt Ryan is getting up there in age and it’s time to find his replacement. He may still have a few years left in the tank, but Wilson is too good to pass up and he will be groomed to be the next star quarterback in Atlanta.
Wilson had quite the junior season with the Cougars, passing for 3,692 yards and 33 touchdowns with a pinpoint-accurate 73.5 percent completion rate. He doesn’t make many mistakes and he improved each year with the Cougars and the best football is still ahead of him.
Just imagine Wilson throwing touchdown passes to Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley. Now that’s an offense that will strike fear into opponents.
