2. Hugh Freeze, Liberty head coach

The name that I’m sure Vols fans will be clamoring for is current Liberty and former Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze.

As I am sure everyone knows, Freeze was very successful during his time at Ole Miss, but his time in Oxford ended in controversy due to recruiting violations and some personal missteps. He has done a great job at Liberty in his two seasons there, guiding the Flames to two bowl wins, including one this year over previously unbeaten Coastal Carolina.

Freeze is known as an ace recruiter and offensive mind and is one of the few coaches that can say he has beaten Nick Saban more than once. It’s unclear if his past indiscretions have been the sole reason that he has not gotten another job at this point or if Freeze is just waiting for the right opportunity.

Freeze seems destined to land back in the SEC at some point and it might be in Knoxville.
