Running Back

Starter: Brian Robinson Jr

Backup: Trey Sanders

While Alabama is losing one of the most versatile backs in school history in Najee Harris, there is a lot of talent that is still in the backfield for the Crimson Tide.

Brian Robinson Jr was excellent as backup last season and returning for a fifth season should give him the opportunity to be the lead ball carrier. Robinson is a very physical and tough runner and should shine in his first opportunity to be the lead back for Alabama.

The backup spot will be one to watch in both spring and fall camp. I am giving the early edge to Trey Sanders, who was the top ranked running back when he came out of high school two years ago.

Sanders suffered a knee injury during his first season in 2019 and then suffered injuries in a car accident last season and that has prevented him from making a true impact. It would not surprise me if Sanders had a huge breakout season and possibly overtakes Robinson as the starting back at some point this season.
