Quarterback

Starter: D.J Uiagalelei

Backup: Taisun Phommachanh

If Trevor Lawrence had never caught COVID, Clemson fans might be nervous about the quarterback position heading into 2021. The two game absence for Lawrence gave the college football world a glimpse at how talented D.J Uiagalelei is and how high his ceiling is as a passer.

Uiagalelei is a big guy and will be a running threat, as well as a passer. D.J should be an early favorite for the Heisman trophy heading into next season and the experience he gained by playing last year should prove invaluable in 2021.

The biggest question might be who the backup quarterback is. There will be an open competition for the job and I am giving the edge to Taisun Phommachanh, who is the most experienced of the other quarterbacks.

The Tigers need to hope that Uiagalelei stays healthy for a full season, because the depth at quarterback is questionable.
