Ohio State Football: Way too early 2-deep depth chart projection
Quarterback
Starter: C.J Stroud
Backup: Jack Miller
This will be a three way competition to see who replaces Justin Fields next season in Columbus, but I am giving the edge to the talented sophomore C.J Stroud.
Stroud was the backup last season and is a real dual threat that can hurt defenses through the air and on the ground.
Stroud was used at different times last season and looked effective running the ball. Jack Miller is another talented sophomore from Arizona that has a very high ceiling and almost won the battle for the backup job last fall.
The third guy in the competition will be true freshman Kyle McCord, a five star freshman that was one of the top duel threat prospects in the country.
McCord is very gifted, but it is always tough for true freshman to crack the lineup at a big time program like Ohio State, no matter how talented they are.
Expect this competition to receive a ton of coverage nationally and it how well the winner plays could determine whether Ohio State is back in the playoff for a third straight season.
