USC football has been on a roll lately when it comes to recruiting and on Saturday, the Trojans landed another elite talent in five-star cornerback Domani Jackson.

The win was expected for USC football but it’s still significant as Jackson is the No. 3 overall prospect in the 2022 class according to the 247 sports composite rankings and he’s the top-ranked corner.

Jackson comes from California powerhouse Mater Dei and the 6-foot-1 defensive back chose USC over basically every other elite program but namely Michigan, Ohio State and Alabama among others.

Here’s a look at his scouting report from 247 sports:

"“Athletic, good-sized cornerback with speed (4.5 forty as a freshman), quickness and explosiveness. Still relatively new to the position, making the transition from receiver, but showed elite level coverage ability, ball skills, play diagnosis and closing speed. Plays with physicality, can bump and press but also play off and defend the pass. Projects as an immediate Power 5 contributor and potential NFL First Round Pick.”"

The Trojans were able to get Korey Foreman, the top overall recruit and defender in the 2021 class and Jackson is the elite of elite defensive backs in 2022 and here are three thoughts on his commitment.

Clay Helton continues to find his mojo

Helton’s tenure his been a bit up and down and after the bottom fell out for recruiting in 2020 with the 64th-ranked class, the Trojans have rebounded in a huge way and it didn’t even just start with Jackson, he’s just a continuation of it.

Just a few weeks ago, the Trojans landed 2021 corner Ceyair Wright, who is the first top-100 cornerback committed to USC since 2018.

USC football was able to keep Jackson and Wright home and that’s huge, which is on top of the 8th-ranked 2021 class. But is the run of elite corners committing to USC going to continue?
