With a lot of experience returning and some young talent incoming, Miami football has some players that have star potential for 2021.

After a disastrous 2019 campaign, the Miami Hurricanes bounced back and had a nice 8-3 season in 2020.

The transfer portal paid big dividends again as quarterback D’Eriq King was fantastic in his first season at Miami and defensive ends Jaelan Phillips and Quincy Roche were one of the best pairs in the whole country. King and Roche were already established stars at different programs, but Phillips was a breakout star that may have done enough to make himself a first-round pick in this year’s NFL draft.

With a veteran roster like Miami’s, it is hard to find guys that could have a breakout season and surprise fans around the country with a big season.

King is already one of the best quarterbacks in the country so it would be hard to consider him a breakout player. Safety Bubba Bolden is back for another season and is looking to play like he did in the first half of the season rather than the second half.

Miami is bringing in a top 15 recruiting class and it could be among that incoming crop of freshman that you find a breakout player or two. Safety James Williams is one of the most athletic defensive backs in the country and will look to make an instant impact as a true freshman. He is probably the most hyped Miami recruit at defensive back since the late Sean Taylor and if he has half the impact that Taylor did, watch out.

Miami is looking to build upon last year’s eight-win season and show that it can sustain success and build the program back to its championship-winning days.

Here are three guys who could emerge as stars in 2021 and help them towards that goal.
