Miami Football: 3 players who will become stars in 2021
3. Jared Harrison-Hunte, DT
Jared Harrison-Hunte was a newcomer this past fall and surprised even the most diehard Miami fans with his ability to get on the field as a true freshman. He showed a really good ability to get an interior pass rush and push back his blocker.
Providing an interior pass rush is a great way to make the quarterback uncomfortable and get him out of the pocket and Harrison-Hunte really did that well at times this past season for the Hurricanes.
Harrison-Hunte finished the season with 16 tackles and three sacks. I think the part of his game that needs the most work is ability to play consistently, especially in the run game. In the game against Clemson early in the year, Harrison-Hunte was getting exposed by the interior of Clemson’s offensive line and could not defeat blocks and stop Travis Etienne or get pressure on Trevor Lawrence.
With a full offseason of work under his belt heading into 2021, expect a breakout season for the sophomore defensive tackle and for him to become a leader on the Hurricanes defense.
