Michael Carter – running back (North Carolina) – National

On Wednesday’s practice, it was Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns’ Elijah Mitchell had one of the best performances of all running backs. The running back position is one of the hardest positions to analyze in the practices of the Senior Bowl. One player who was not only one of the most productive players in his position but also the day three setting of the 2021 Senior Bowl was North Carolina Tar Heels running back Michael Carter.

Throughout the entire practice, Carter was dominating the opposing defense in team periods and position drills. He made his presence known early by quickly burst through the holes of the defense created by the offensive line. Carter presented a great combination of speed and aggressiveness in his runs.

He was just as dominant in the one-on-one passing periods as he was catching quick-to-long routes. Carter consistently mossed linebackers and safeties during this period as his speed and athleticism helped him win matchups. He solidifies himself as a top-four running back in this 2021 NFL Draft class due to a fantastic performance in the Senior Bowl practices.

Richie Grant – cornerback (UCF) – American

Throughout the entire 2021 Senior Bowl, there have players that have been playing consistently all week. The third day of practice was the biggest day for UCF Knights cornerback Richie Grant, who had been attracting attention from NFL scouts and coaches all week.

Grant was the best participant on day three for the American Squad as he showed his consistency and aggressiveness as a playmaker. Not only did he provide consistent coverage against his assigned man but he was quick to the ball carrier and where the ball was thrown. Grant constantly displayed his eagerness to create turnovers through interceptions or fumbles. He had two interceptions in two different team periods on day three of practice. It was not the only day where he committed interceptions.
