National signing day isn’t what it used to be but it turned out to have some exciting moments all the same. Here are the winners, losers and flips.

You never really know what’s going to happen in recruiting and that was reinforced on national signing day 2021 with some flips and surprises.

It all started with an early flip in the Big Ten as Michigan stole Michigan State’s No. 2 commitment in Rayshaun Benny.

Benny didn’t sign during the early period and even though there wasn’t much momentum for a flip until late Tuesday/early Wednesday, Benny announced his decision and quickly made it official.

It was the second flip of the day for the Wolverines who added three defensive tackles, including two ranked in the top 260 in the past week. They also earned the title of biggest flip up to this point.

Beyond that, at least in terms of the top-10 recruits left on the board in the 247 sports composite rankings, there weren’t any surprises. The only unknown at this point is Brian Thomas Jr. who  has been predicted with crystal balls to LSU but still hasn’t decided.

USC landed Raesjon Davis, holding off Ohio State and keeping one of the best defenders in the 2021 class home in California. Ole Miss also got the signature of top-100 defensive tackle Tywone Malone, a recruit Texas A&M was pushing for.

There were some other flips but none that were overly significant in terms of being committed to another school and then signing with another.

National signing day also brought about some clear winners and losers and we’ll start with the optimistic side of things with some of the winners from signing day.
