Losers: Nebraska, Michigan State and LSU

There’s no doubt that it wasn’t a great day for Nebraska football. One of the top players in state, Dickerson, was from Omaha and went to Oregon over the Huskers.

Dickerson was committed to Minnesota and when he walked back that commitment, it seemed like the Huskers would be in prime position to close. Only it didn’t happen and one of the top players available left in the late period spurned the Huskers officially on Wednesday.

Unfortunately, for Nebraska fans, he wasn’t the only one. The Huskers were hoping to get a signature from Minneapolis, Minnesota defensive end Davon Townley, but Penn State was able to win out, denying Nebraska a shot at two important four-star recruits.

The other loser is Michigan State. The Spartans were able to get the commitment of three-star receiver Keon Coleman and that takes some of the sting away from losing Benny to the Wolverines, but still, it’s hard to get over that one, especially when he was the second-ranked player in the Spartans class.

Michigan State now doesn’t have any of the top-15 players from Michigan in its 2021 class.

LSU also didn’t land Brian Thomas Jr. as some thought and he is going to take more time to make a decision. The Tigers could still get him, but delays usually don’t favor the favorite and watch for Texas A&M to pounce.
