Rocco Spindler was the lineman I chose in my first edition of 2021 Notre Dame signees who’d have an immediate impact, but after thinking more about it, I see Blake Fisher assuming that role.

The four-star tackle from Avon, Ind., is an early enrollee and the highest-rated signee of Notre Dame’s 2021 class. He has the size, strength and footwork to see the field immediately and with Liam Eichenberg and Robert Hainsey departing, it only makes sense that he’ll get a chance to prove himself compared to some upperclassmen.

Two seniors, Jarrett Patterson and Josh Lugg, are projected to be the starting tackles next season while they’re anchored by Andrew Kristophic and Michael Carmody. It’s going to be tough for Fisher to crack that two-deep by the fall, but with him being on campus already and arguably more naturally talented than the rest of the group, it’s not out of the question.

Without the experience on the line, guys like Fisher and Spindler could come in right away and steal some snaps from some veterans who haven’t played much during their time in South Bend.

Fisher was the No. 54 overall prospect, eighth-best tackle and No. 1 recruit from the state of Indiana in the 2021 class. He’s listed at 6-foot-5.5 and 335 pounds, according to 247Sports.
