Texas A&M Football: 3 Final thoughts on Aggies 2021 recruiting class
In-state momentum
Winning the state of Texas is always a goal on the recruiting trail for Texas A&M and all the schools in the state. In 2021, the Longhorns, going through a coaching change, landed just one of the top 20 recruits, while Texas A&M football got seven of the top 20.
Alabama and Oklahoma each landed four recruits in the top 20 but the only other schools to get just one were LSU and Texas Tech. It’s been impressive how the Aggies have recruited the state and eight of their top nine signees were from the Lone Star state.
It will be tougher to continue that success with Steve Sarkisian at Texas, but it’s hard to say any school recruited Texas better than the Aggies in 2021.
Grade: A
Jimbo Fisher has built a recruiting machine with Texas A&M and it should continue into the future, in fact it already is in 2022 as the Aggies have four commitments in the top 158 so far, including four-star quarterback Conner Weigman.
The Aggies have plenty of momentum after a strong finish to 2021 and with a good season on the field too, the recruiting operation should continue to be elite.
