Games: 5-8

Northwestern: W

At 2-2, Nebraska will absolutely need to win this game in order to go bowling. Northwestern has found a way to beat Nebraska in a number of close games over the years and they are a consistent contender in the West Division.

But this time around, Nebraska finds a way to get it done and holds on over the Wildcats. It’s going to be a defensive battle but the Huskers defense has a lot of experienced players returning and they will help Frost score one of the biggest wins of his tenure.

Michigan: L

This will be another chance for Nebraska to get a significant win, especially with a victory over Northwestern the previous week, but the Wolverines are going to be better than people realize, especially if five-star freshman quarterback J.J. McCarthy is legit and they win a close one in Lincoln.

Minnesota: W

Operating under the belief that Nebraska football will take a step forward in 2021 could be a mistake, but there were signs of progress last year, as there have been during each year of the Frost era.

The key is building on success and turning the corner. The Huskers haven’t done it but I think they will this year. I don’t see them winning both games at Minnesota and Michigan State, yet the Huskers can earn a split and they are due against the Golden Gophers.

Purdue: W

Nebraska has struggled against Purdue over the years but notched a win over the Boilermakers last year and the Huskers will have a big advantage at the quarterback position. That, along with the home-field advantage, will be enough for the fifth win of the season.
