player. QB. BYU. Zach Wilson. 2. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 30

No one saw their draft stock rise quite like Zach Wilson this season. After pretty average 2018 and 2019 seasons, Wilson went nuclear in 2020. In fact, he had just under 4,000 total yards and 23 touchdowns with 12 total picks and a completion rate around 64 percent through his first two seasons and then went off for 3,692 yards, 33 touchdowns and three interceptions while completing 74 percent of his throws in 2020.

Wilson wasn’t even really on the radar in 2019 but it didn’t take long for him to shoot up draft boards, finding himself listed as the No. 2 quarterback in the 2021 draft class behind only Trevor Lawrence. There’s a feeling that he’s a lock to go to the Jets.

Things can always change, but it seems like the Jets are trying to move Sam Darnold and that should open the door for New York to take Wilson at No. 2 overall.

Wilson had the ability to run, he’s confident, he’s accurate and he’s a leader. He has everything you want in a franchise quarterback and he may just be the guy to lead the Jets out of the cellar.

If the Jets pick Wilson No. 2 overall, they instantly get better. That’s just a fact.

It’s just a start, but it’s a massive move in the right direction.
