player. Scouting Report. EDGE. Texas. Joseph Ossai. 26. 53. Pick Analysis

This draft class is filled with versatile defenders and Joseph Ossai is one of them. He began his Texas football career at linebacker and spent a little time at defensive end but he was a full-time edge rusher in 2020.

Ossai has a 6-foot-3, 245-pound frame so he was long for a linebacker and still has a good body for an edge rusher and he’s just getting used to the position which means that his potential there is through the roof. He was really impressive there as a junior.

As a linebacker in 2019, he finished with 90 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss and five sacks but he showed he could still drop back in coverage with two interceptions and a pass deflection. He then molded into an elite edge rusher with 55 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks. He still batted down two balls and forced three fumbles.

The Browns are looking for a ton of defensive help at all three levels, starting with an edge rusher as well as linebackers and cornerbacks. Adding Ossai would fill a need on the edge but he can also play linebacker at the next level.

The 2020 All-American would be the perfect addition to this defense.
