Caleb Farley. 9. player. Scouting Report. Virginia Tech. CB. 45. Pick Analysis

As the Broncos watch the Panthers select Patrick Surtain at No. 8 knowing that they, too, need a cornerback, they get back to the drawing board and look toward the next best available at the position, landing on Virginia Tech’s Caleb Farley.

Injuries may be a bit of a concern here, but he has shown the ability to play at an elite level when he’s healthy and even bounced back from a torn ACL injury to piece together an All-ACC career with the Hokies.

Farley is also versatile, beginning his college career as a receiver before transitioning to a full-time corner where he thrived. He’s still a little raw, but that’s good news for NFL scouts looking to mold him into a lockdown corner and star in the defensive backfield.

At 6-foot-2, 207 pounds, Farley has plenty of size and looks like he can defend just about anyone at the NFL level.

Despite opting out of the 2020 season due to health concerns, Farley finished his career with 56 tackles, six interceptions and 19 pass deflections in 23 career games.

Denver needs to make defense cool again.
