Clemson football is looking to reload after a disappointing postseason in 2020. They’ll look at three role players that are set to become stars in 2021.
This 2020 season was the last chance for star quarterback Trevor Lawrence to get one more national title. Instead of fulfilling the potential and talent they had on their roster, the Tigers lost their first College Football Playoff game since the 2018 Sugar Bowl 28-6 to the eventual champions to the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Now the Clemson Tigers are having to replace a once-in-a-generation talent in Lawrence, who declared early for the 2021 NFL Draft. Not only are the Tigers losing Lawrence, but they are also losing other high-caliber players on both sides of the ball.
As an elite program, the Tigers, under head coach Dabo Swinney, have multiple top-10 recruiting classes in each of the last four years. Clemson has seen many players develop into stars as well as many who arrived on campus as elite prospects.
This offseason, there will be several key players to watch for as the Tigers looks to avenge last season’s tough loss to the Ohio State in the semifinals. Many of these players will be new starters filling in for program-building playmakers who have departed. Other players are looking to boost their productivity from last season’s performance.
Look for these players to contend for an all-American team selection as their role for Clemson increases. Two of these players will be on the offensive side of the ball while the other will be on defense. Here are three Clemson Tigers that will become stars this upcoming 2021 season.
