There have been several high-caliber prospects that have signed with the Clemson Tigers. One of the highest-ranked players to enroll at Clemson just behind Trevor Lawrence and defensive end Da’Quan Bowers is defensive tackle Bryan Bresee. There was no doubt that Bresee would make an instant impact this first year with the Tigers this past season.

Bresee definitely showed his potential this past season for Clemson as he accounted for 23 total tackles, 13 solos, 6.5 tackles for loss, four sacks, two pass breakups and a forced fumble in 11 games. He is one of 11 starters returning for a Clemson defense that was ranked 18th in the nation in points allowed per game (20.2).

This a defense where youth and inexperience came through at the worst times possible in big games. Bresee was the player who played significantly well in those games but he didn’t have the experience to lead the defense. His best performance this past season was against the Buckeyes when he accounted for five total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and a sack.

This season, the defense of the Tigers will be asked to be aggressive and consistent. While there are several seniors on the team that have started longer, this need will explore Bresee as a potential leader. He has the talent and potential to become an all-American selection in the 2021 season. He also has the potential to lead a stacked defensive line along with defensive ends K.J. Henry, Myles Murphy and Xavier Thomas since the 2018 season.
