4-star cornerback Keenan Nelson Jr.

When you have elite recruits in your own backyard, you have to be able to keep them home and that’s a key focus for Penn State football in the 2022 class.

Another priority recruit for the Nittany Lions is top-100 cornerback Keenan Nelson Jr. out of Philadelphia. Nelson has really good size at 6-foot-1, 200 pounds and he is the No. 2 player in the state behind just White.

Ranked as the No. 10 cornerback prospect according to the 247 composite rankings, Nelson’s offer list is missing some major programs, even in the Midwest such as Ohio State and Michigan.

But it’s a really deep cycle as far as cornerbacks and that could have something to do with it. Either way, it’s something that bodes well for Penn State right now as Notre Dame, Georgia, Oregon and Miami are some of the bigger name schools that have offered.

It feels like Notre Dame could be the biggest threat and there’s no doubt both programs could use a top-100 corner, so this will be an interesting recruitment to watch.
